WHAT’S THE POINT?

So much of the time we don’t say what we mean.

We don’t say what we mean because we’re afraid–of rejection, or of failure, or of being honest, or of telling the truth. We’re afraid that we won’t be heard. We’re afraid that we will be heard. We’re so afraid of confronting the risks of communication that most of the time we choose not to–we’re so afraid that we don’t even speak.

Vulnerability is hard, especially when belonging is such a basic need. But fundamentally, the fear of “Just Saying The Thing” obstructs our ability to connect with each other in a way we can’t afford. We cannot be meaningfully intimate with other people unless we are able to be forthright.

THE POINT OF S(N)TS? LIFE IS TOO SHORT TO BOTTLE SH*T UP.
